John Bamfield was born in the West Midlands in 1947. At school John was encouraged by his art masters, and notably the acclaimed painter and sculptor, J. Ianson. In the late 60’s John moved to the country with his wife and family. He has painted professionally for the last 30 years, with his work is on permanent show in leading commercial galleries. His early influences included artists such as Les (Jason) Spence Ben Maile, Passeur, Eric Mason and Barry Leighton Jones. John Bamfield has also been inspired by the timeless work of the Impressionists and is completely at home conveying the light, colour and atmosphere of sun drenched landscapes such as is enjoyed in Provence. Collectors of John Bamfield’s original oils on canvas included the late Paul Getty.
