Domingo Domingo was born in Barcelona, Spain, in 1946. Having completed his studies in 1966 he spent several years illustrating numerous books and other publications and in 1971 was offered a job as a sub editor for an art magazine in Madrid. Whilst in Madrid he explored the techniques of pastel painting and was very successful in selling his work to galleries and in and around the city. During this time he began to reveal an authoritative style and composition in the use of pastels and using a toned paper as an integral part of the background to his subject. His work was quickly recognised as being of exceptional quality and talent. His new job gave him the opportunity to travel in Spain and southern France, and he was able to sell his paintings with regularity and with this continued success he turned fully professional in 1975. The works of Domingo are now collected and appear alongside many other contemporary artists of standing who are distinguished painters in their own right.
