Peter, who lives and paints in Jesmond, Newcastle, trained as a commercial artist in the 1960's at Sunderland Art College and had a successful career in advertising and design for over 40 years.
It's just over 7 years since Peter had a brief to do a painting of the Tyne Bridge. He says "This was the beginning of my passion for watercolours. Each painting is like starting afresh. For me atmosphere and mood are the most important elements in my pictures and this is what I try to capture in all my work.
Peter paints bold evocative pictures of Newcastle and Northumbria in his unique style and over the last few years his hallmark rain swept figures with umbrellas and reflections have become very recognisable. His work also features hazy images of Venice and nostalgic beach scenes on both sunny and all too familiar rainy days
