Colin Ruffell was born in London in 1939, then he was bombed, evacuated, educated, expelled, repatriated, married, qualified, and then taught, until in 1965, aged 26, he became a full time professional artist, since then he is "very proud and happy to have survived". He has qualifications from two art colleges (Hornsey and Portsmouth) in painting, design and printmaking, and an Open University degree in psychology and aesthetics. Exhibited in: England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Sweden, Germany, Holland, USA, Japan,Venezuela and Australia, plus works in private and corporate collections worldwide. His pictures are varied, he paints in many styles. Some images are amusing, others traditional landscapes, and yet more are modernist abstract relationships of colour, texture and shapes. He claims that he paints in explosive bursts necessarily punctuated by long spells of getting ready or recovering from the last effort. He was elected by worldwide members to be "The Master of the Fine Art Trade Guild" in 2008.
