Forrest was born in Sutton Coldfield in 1961, one of four brothers. He showed only a slight interest in art at school, and with no particular career in mind he went to technical Art College in Cornwall to study Technical Illustration for four years. After leaving college in 1982 he tried around four jobs before starting his own illustration business. Around this time his work was noticed by a major fine art publishing company, Solomon and Whitehead, who are now publishing his work as signed limited edition prints. The main area of his work is now wildlife. He is also a very keen photogrpher and takes all his own reference photographs. Apart from wildlife, his other subjects include old, dirty, rusty steam engines. The paintings by Tony Forrest are continuing to earn incresing attention and towards the end of 1990 he will be applying to join the Society of Animal Artists Inc in New York who have an active interest in his work.
