Graham Isom was born at Farnborough, Kent, in 1945. He enlisted at the now Ravensborne college of Art, studying Art , but specialising in Sculpture. He obtained a degree and teachers qualification, but spent the majority of his graduating year working as a groom in stables on Dartmoor. In 1966 he was accepted as a teacher of Art to “A” level students at a grammer school in Dorset, a post which he held for five years. His private commisions however, were beginning to intrude on his working life, and in the early 1970’s he decided to become a full time artist, moving to the Sussex Marshes to do so. He has more recently taken up residence in rural Somerset and his renewed acquaintanceship with the saddle has encouraged him to specialise even further into predominately equestrian works. These powerful studies wether they be racing, hunting or in the Polo field have brought him many admirers around the world.
